Jeffrey Herlings of the red Bull KTM team made a positive comeback to racing action on Thursday. The Dutch Masters of Motocross round at Rhenen marked his return after a long injury-enforced layoff, and he booked a heat win already to show that he meant business.
After his four month lay-off, Herlings came back wit a bang, posting the fastest qualifying time. This gave him confidence, although he knew that competing for a race distance was another story. Herlings launched in the leading group in race one, and bided his time to see the lay of the land. He experienced some heavy armpump late in the race, and decided to push out front, which yielded him the race win.
Herlings again started in the top five in race two. He pushed forward to second, but fatigue set in later on, and he had to slack off. The armpump prevented him from going full out, and he set matters on safe to finish fourth. He was third overall for the day.
Jeffrey will be in action at the ADAC MX Masters at Möggers in Austria, and the weekend thereafter he will participate in his first GP of the season in Russia.
