Jeffrey Herlings returns with podium place at beach race in Lemmer

Jeffrey Herlings is back on the bike. Herlings broke his collarbone during the Dutch Grand Prix in Arnhem and opted for a natural healing. As a result, he was out of circulation longer than usual. He has now fully recovered and chose to drive his first race again last Saturday during the beach race in Lemmer.

Before the start of the race, Herlings had trained with the bike three times and the feeling was good. However, in the first moto, Herlings soon suffered a setback because his chain ran off the engine, forcing him to leave the race.

In the second moto, Herlings built up his race well. However, due to a small crash in the early stages, Herlings lost time on the leader. During the race, he got into his rhythm well and started to close the gap on the leader. In the closing stages he came very close but because he made a wrong decision when passing a back marker he had to let the leader go and finished second.

At the end of the day there was also a super final. Herlings came out of the start in second and immediately attacked the leader. He found no place to pass him and because the track was very treacherous with all the water coming up, Herlings chose to go safe. Herlings finished second again and gained a lot of race rhythm.

Next Sunday, Herlings will start in the beach race in Vlissingen.
