Jeffrey Herlings Wins GP of Valkenswaard For The Ninth Time
Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team has won the GP at Valkenswaard for the ninth time in his career. Herlings rode two calculated races, and did not take any unnecessary risks on the muddy track. With second and first in the races respectively, he secured his second GP victory of the season,
Herlings demonstrated in both training sessions on Saturday that he had winning in mind, by posting the fastest times. He was confident going into the qualifying heat, but some armpump on the rough track kept him from keeping the pace that he wanted. He tried to minimize mistakes, and after holding the lead for a while, he finished second to secure a good gate for Sunday’s races.
A good start launched Jeffrey into the leading group for the first race. He paced his race, and quickly moved into second. He could not close the gap on the leaders and opted for a safe second place finish. A holeshot in race two immediately got Jeffrey into the lead. He found a good rhythm, and managed to fend off all attacks. He rode to the race- and overall victory at the end of a tough day.
After two rounds of the world championship series, Jeffrey is still in the lead of the world championship standings, with a lead of nine points over Tim Gajser. The world championship series continues in two weeks’time in Argentina.
